Volleyball

As you may know, Austin has played volleyball for some years now.  While he really enjoys playing, his motivation to try extra hard is not always there.  That is why I was so excited that the summer Olympics were this year.  I wanted him to watch team USA men's volleyball play.  Austin got into it, but little did I expect to get so into it myself.  Not only because of the volleyball, but because I saw the most gosh darn beautiful man I have seen in a while.  Matt Anderson
He makes my heart go pitty pat :) He's just a few years younger than me, but hey, that's the new trend with celebrities right now.  Maybe someday we shall meet ;)

Things that make you go hmm? or boo?

So I have been doing well for the last week or so on my latest attempt to lose weight.  I decided to start by tracking my food on Myfitnesspal.com.  I have used it on and off for a while.  I like it because it tracks all of the nutritional info too.  Anyway, every website has advertisements on the site, right?  No big deal, no one really pays attention.  So what two advertisements are on my food tracking page: Duncan Hines blue velvet cake and my favorite (White Castle).  What kind of crap is that!  Junk food should be banned from that site.  Especially, when there are hungry people tracking food :)

awesomeness

I saw a post on Facebook that says "90% of a child's awesomeness comes from the grandmother" so I tell Austin...and he says with a totally straight face, "Well then she must be pretty awesome!" and goes back to his playing.  He's such a goofball.

stolen kisses

So, I love my nieces to pieces and I would do anything for them.  And, I am sure they love me too.  Paige has always given me hugs and she came to me as a baby, blah..blah...blah.  Miss Cady was always very affectionate but we had a game of running away when I would try to kiss her.  She loved the chase.  But, I have found my match in little B.  She makes me chase her too and I try to make it a game, but I'm not sure she really wants the kisses or hugs.  Today, Krista chased her and brought her over and I gave B a big kiss on the forehead.  She immediately wiped it off.  So, I blew her a kiss and she acted like she was rubbing it off.  I blew another one and Krista acted like she caught it and put it in B's pocket.  B then proceeded to pick the kiss out of her pocket and gave it to Aunt Barb.  What a little stinker :)

Smurfiness

I found a shirt that I had bought a little bit ago.  It was a long sleeve blue denim-ish material.  I didn't wash it before I put it on and didn't think any more about it.  At work the other day, I was typing at my desk and noticed that my fingers looked a little blue.  Because I am the alarmist that I am, I immediately think that I am not getting blood to my fingers.  I google it and determine that I must have a heart problem, right? After all, I am a large lady :) I take off my shoes to make sure my feet are not also blue (they are not).  I debate with myself for a while about checking with the school nurse to see if she has one of those devices that tells you your oxygen blood level.  I decide that schools probably do not have these devices.  I debate going to the hospital too but decide momentarily not to because it would cost a fortune and I have no other symptoms.  Anyway, I pump my hands to try to get more blood to them, but that really doesn't help.  So luckily within the hour I had to use the restroom.  While washing my hands, I notice a slight blue tint to the draining water and finally realize that it was my shirt.  Felt a little stupid, but glad that I wasn't dying.  Anyway, although I washed my hands a million times that day, I looked like a smurf from the elbow down to my fingers.  What a smurfy day!

New Years Eve

Happy New Years to everyone!  As always, I do not have any exciting plans for tonight.  I don't like to drive at night with all of the drunkos out there.  Austin and I are at mom's house to have a family game night (just like last year).  Krista and her girls decided not to come down.  Anyway, I went to the grocery store twice today.  I hate going on new years eve because it's always so packed.  I got this grand idea to try making pretzel bites from scratch and needed the ingredients.  The pretzel bites turned out pretty good.  Austin was supposed to help, but surprise, surprise he didn't feel like it.  Fortunately, mom pitched in to help.  I'm not sure they were worth all of the trouble.  I wasn't hard, just a lot of steps.

In a few hours, we will start playing games.  I couldn't find my favorite statergories so I guess the other games will have to do.

And, because I still believe in making resolutions, I will make some again.  This year, I will try to find a happy place and not yell as much.  I would like to lose 100 pounds.  I would like to make more financially secure decisions and get my home organized.  These are a lot of heavy hitters so I'm going to need lots of prayers to succeed :)

smokin'

So today was Christmas.  I think everyone who knows me, knows that Christmas is my favorite time of year.  I love the songs, the lights, giving gifts, and the religion of it all (not in that order).  Unfortunately, I am already feeling a little sad that it will be over tomorrow.  Then we have to move into one of my most dreaded times of year - Valentine's Day.  I'm not going to think about that yet though.

Just a while ago, I put some instant macaroni into the microwave.  Unfortunately, I forgot to add the water.  After a couple of minutes I smell smoke so I go into the kitchen to see smoke pouring out of the microwave.  No flames, but still scary.  I open the door and a massive cloud come out.  I sit there stunned for a moment and then the coughing begins.  I quickly open both kitchen windows and turn on the ceiling fan.  I open the door.  This has probably all taken less than a minute.  Then I hear Austin coughing and running into the room.  I tell him to get out and he sits there and argues for a few moments.  Finally, he leaves.  It only took  minutes for the visible smoke to clear, but two hours later the smell is still really bad.  I put a fan in the window to pull in some fresh air from outside (as the internet instructed).  So, I am sitting in thirty some degree weather with the window fan on, freezing my buns off all because I am stupid.  I sure hope this isn't how my whole break will go.  I am a little afraid to go to sleep because I am worried about Austin breathing in the bad air with his congestion already.

Oh the dumb things we do :(
